Roy joined Patkau Architects in 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Architecture from the University of British Columbia, where he was awarded the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Student Medal. He is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, where he has taught courses in history/theory, design media, and building information modelling. His design research has been published widely, most recently by Footprint Journal, SITE Magazine, and Bracket Journal. Roy is an Intern Architect NCARB.
